God Jul!!!

So this week was a weird week.... we couldn't proselyte so we relaxed and it was so weird to not be doing missionary work!

Mandag:
Elin and Kenneth showed Sister Allen and I a cute hole in the wall place called fairytale cupcakes. So Sister Allen and I decided to go and it was so yummy and cute!!!
Went to FHE and we played scum and some other card games and sister Rappleye made some way yummy fudge! I love being with the YSA and having fun and getting to know the ward better. They are like family to me!
This is Betty, she is moving back to Czech
Tirsdag:
We visited bestamor and bestafar before Christmas! We got to take bestamor to see bestafar and it is just the cutest thing! Elder Dalton and Miller came and we sang carols. I love being around Magnus and Inger. They are so cute and make me really appreciate my family and to remember to enjoy the simple things in life.
Sister Allen and I went contacting and the streets were totally empty.... so we went home and made cookies for members. The cookies tasted good, but we had to substitute some ingredients so the dough looked like sand haha

Onsdag: Lillejulaften (Day before Christmas Eve)
We went with some of the Elders and went caroling at our weekly nursing home

The Kristiansund Elders (Elder Tennant and McIntire) came to Trondheim to spend the holidays here so we all met up and went to Egon Tower to eat the pizza buffet! It was a party! The Rappleyes came too. They couldn't make enough pizzas because by the time they brought one out, we all would get up and get more pizza and clear out the whole buffet haha. It was a pretty view and we got to see the sun rise and set all in the hour and a half we were there.

We all went to the creepy bank

We all hiked/walked to the scenic out look of the whole city!! It was so pretty! Pictures do not do Norway justice at all!

Went back to the church and moved the couches into the gym and watched a Christmas movie, ELF on the projector! It was way koselig

***We had a missionary Christmas this year and we were all together for the holidays

Torsdag: Julaften (Christmas Eve)
We watched Christmas movies and relaxed at the church

Elder Dalton made creamy cheese chicken and rice for dinner and it was way good!! We watched Polar Express afterwards

Fredag: GOD JUL (Christmas)
Sister Allen and I opened our Christmas presents and did a little Christmas morning together(:

Went to the Rappleyes for brunch and had yummy chili and potato soup and treats. We watched Inside Out which is the cutest movie and played card games. Then we all went our separate ways to SKYPE OUR FAMILIES!! Sister Allen and I went to Majken's house. It was so nice of them to let us use their house and computers!! SKYPING WAS THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER!!!!! I can't believe how big and grown up everyone is!! I am so thankful for technology and that I got to actually see my family face to face! It was like I had never left! I am so grateful for my family and their continuous love and support.

Lørdag:
We played volleyball and man I forgot how much I missed it!! I love volleyball!!

Pelle had us all over to eat yummy Norwegian food and his delicious orange moose pepperkaker cake. It was so fun to be with everyone. These people are my family!! I am so grateful for the generosity of the members to have us over and feed us especially during the holidays!
The missionaries went back to the church after and played ultimate spoons

Søndag:
Maria had the missionaries over and we made homemade pizza!! It was way koselig and then we played heads up! That was hilarious!! Elder Rappleye was making all of us die of laughter!! There was one part where we had to act out football and after guessing everything but football, he yells *Shotput!!!* hahaha we were all dying!! I love Maria she is so cute and awesome. I hope I can get to know her better before I leave!

Jordan's Tidbits:
- Knitting is so hard! I do not know how the people here can do it without even watching their fingers

- I feel like now that Christmas is over, the weather thinks it is okay to be freezing now!!!! It is so cold!!

- Literally everything shuts down in Norway for Christmas..... so running to the store for last minute food you forgot to get isn't a thing here

- The members of this ward are so awesome and thoughtful!! They gave us little gifts and it was so nice that they thought of us missionaries!
- Christmas as a missionary is the best thing ever. You don't have to worry or get caught up in the presents and things like that. You don't worry about what you are getting for Christmas and the simplest things mean the most. We get to focus on Christ our Savior and our purpose as a missionary and I LOVE IT

Åndelig Tanker:
Today marks the 2 year anniversary of my close friends Chris Alder and Darin Thomas’ passing.  It literally feels like we were hanging out just yesterday. Thanks to the Plan of Salvation I can find comfort in the quote that *no goodbye lasts forever* When I got set apart as a missionary I was told that *angels would be assisting me and be by my side.* I have many guardian angels and I know that Chris and Darin are two of those. I have felt multiple times Chris and Darin on each side of me, helping me, pushing me, keeping me safe, and guiding me along. Gud vær med dere til vi sees igjen.
*****In Moroni chapter 7 there are two verses that I really like:
29 And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men.

37 Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain.

******In a book that our church has called True to the Faith I really like how it describes death:

You have probably experienced the pain that comes at the death of a family member or friend. It is natural to feel sorrow at such times. In fact, mourning is one of the deepest expressions of love. The Lord said, “Thou shalt live together in love, insomuch that thou shalt weep for the loss of them that die” (D&C 42:45). The only way to take sorrow out of death is to take love out of life. Even as you mourn at the death of loved ones, you can receive comfort in the promise of resurrection and in the assurance that families can be together forever. You can “see the great reason of sorrow, and also of rejoicing—sorrow because of death and destruction among men, and joy because of the light of Christ unto life” (Alma 28:14; see also verses 9–13). In addition to receiving comfort when loved ones die, you can be at peace with the knowledge that you will eventually die. As you live the gospel, you can remember the Lord’s promise: “Those that die in me shall not taste of death, for it shall be sweet unto them” (D&C 42:46).

This song reminds me of my friends and I would like to dedicate it to them.  I will always love them and have them in my heart forever!

"The Dash"

Whole town showed up
Gymnasium filled
Floor was wet
From all the tears spilled
And the preacher man said
We're all gathered today
And I'll never forget
What he had to say

It's always too soon
It's always too fast
There'll never come a day
That you don't want 'em back
It ain't about the numbers
Chiseled in concrete
It's how they lived their lives
In the dash between
In the dash between

He was a steelworker's son
Homecoming king
He trained day and night
For that championship ring
He found him a girl
Made her his queen
And he fought for his country
And he gave it everything

It's always too soon
It's always too fast
There'll never come a day
That you don't want 'em back
It ain't about the numbers
Chiseled in concrete
It's how they lived their lives
In the dash between
In the dash between

Their first breath and their last
Marks all the memories of the past
That little black line defines a legacy

It's always too soon
It's always too fast
They're always too young
It's always so sad
It ain't about the numbers
Chiseled in concrete
It's how they lived their lives
In the dash between
In the dash between
In the dash between

ha en fin uke og en godt nyttår dere!!!!! velkommen 2016!!!

En Frelser er født

****This week was way rough..... the holidays are here that is for sure! Everyone is gone, leaving, so yeah......

Mandag:
We delivered cookies we frosted and decorated at FHE to people in the ward. Søster Allen and I teamed up with Maria and I LOVE HER!! She is so fun and cute!!
Tirsdag:
So we went to visit bestamor and bestafar and ended up only visiting bestafar which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. So Sister Allen and I go to visit Magnus (bestafar) and we walk in and can hear someone yelling and we soon realize that it is Magnus yelling. We quickly go to his room and he is yelling and not really making sense and there are no nurses anywhere!! He kept yelling and it was so sad. So we went to find a nurse and literally there was none anywhere so we rang Magnus's alarm thing and still no one came! So we finally went and found a nurse and she helped him and the whole time he kept saying how he was going to see his Heavenly Father and he needed dang water to drink before he went and things like that. It was so sad!! Sister Allen and I were tearing up. We prayed with him and he wanted us to sing like always. I honestly thought he was going to die right there in front of us. I told him we would come back later that week and he said hopefully he wasn't in the ground and I looked at him straight in the eyes and told him that he wouldn't be. Elder Dalton jokes that I am what is keeping him here still because I refuse to let him think he is dying. So that experience definitely shook Sister Allen and I up.

Onsdag:
We had a Zone Christmas conference!!! I got to see Søster Wadley and Bender!! That was way exciting! The conference was awesome!! We had a talent show and Sister Allen and I sang The First Noel and then our district sang “Let it Go” from Frozen in Norwegian and it was a hit!! President and Sister Hill loved it and were dying in the back!! Everyone else's talents were way awesome too! We also did a secret Santa and mine gave me a Justin Bieber bed cover!!  Seriously I almost started to cry.... It was the best present ever! President and Sister Hill did a way awesome fireside and the Zone Leaders did an awesome spiritual part and showed the Mormon message Mountains to Climb. Everyone was in tears!! If you haven't seen that, you need to see it!!

Majken and Aaron had all the missionaries over for hot dogs so that was way nice and koselig.

Torsdag:
We visited Elin and Kenneth. She made us these yummy fiskboller in white sauce! She is a way good cook. They are leaving for Denmark for the holidays and gave us a present! I told Sister Allen we had to wait til Christmas to open it haha. I LOVE THEM!! They are so awesome!!! We have a small Christmas tree and we put our presents “under” – next to it!
Sister Allen and I thought it would be a good idea to have Magnus get a blessing, so we brought Elder Dalton and Miller with us to give him a blessing. That was way awesome and kind of nerve wracking because we aren't sure how much longer he is going to live.....
Due to not being able to visit bestamor when we came earlier in the week, Søster Allen and I went to visit her after. It was a blessing in disguise that we came today and not Tuesday. As soon as we walked in, she was bawling and we ran over to her and were trying to figure out what was wrong. I was hugging her while she asked Sister Allen to water her flowers. (She has flowers all over her apartment) So after we got her to settle down and helped her, turns out she had fallen out of her wheelchair earlier that day and it had scared her and she was alone so she was still shaken up by it. She kept telling us how grateful she was that we came. It made me tear up. She is the cutest lady and I love her. It was an awesome experience on how God works through me to help other people
Visited Jecon and he made us the best fried rice ever!!! We are trying to help him come to church again, so hopefully after the holidays we can figure out why he doesn't come. We went through the articles of faith with him and it was cool to hear him say *Yeah I believe that! It makes sense that we still need a prophet today.* He knows these things are true, he just has to act! People and their agency kills me......

Fredag:
Majken took us to the best hot chocolate place ever!! It tasted like they melted down a chocolate bar. Of course I had to get a muffin to go along with it. Muffins are my weakness haha. Majken is so awesome and has just the strongest testimony.

Sang at the nursing home with the elders. They get so happy when they see us and it is just so awesome to serve others and the feelings you get when you see others happy

Met with Mido. He is slowly, but surely coming along. We talked about prophets and he likes the idea of a prophet and wants to believe in one, so that is good!

Lørdag:
Played sport again!!! Man have I missed volleyball!

We did the street stand and although not many people talked to us, we passed out a lot of the Christmas cards so that was good! Elin and Kenneth randomly stopped by, so that was a nice surprise to see them! They invited us to get hot chocolate when we were done. These people are just so nice!!

Målfird invited Sister Allen and I to a Christmas dinner at the nursing home. Her husband is in another nursing home for two weeks so she asked Sister Allen and I to go with her. It was very cute, decorated very nicely, and we had the classic Norwegian Christmas meal. Norwegians sure do love their meat! We had potatoes, lots and lots of different meat, and some things I have no idea what they were and don't want to know haha but it was good! They had a man playing a guitar and singing and they did a raffle at the end. It was so nice that she invited us and I was so happy to be able to be there with her. She is 91 years old, but she acts like she is in her 70's.

(Elder Phipps and Carver had a baptism; Sam)

Søndag:
I got asked to say the closing prayer in church at the end of sacrament meeting. I don't mind doing that because everyone has their eyes closed and I don't have to see them staring at me haha

We went to try to visit a less active with the elders; Charles, but he wasn't home....

Stian invited all the missionaries over for a Norwegian Christmas meal as well!! It was way good and so nice of him to do that! It was a way koselig time

A member in the ward; Hooshar was in the newspaper. It was an awesome article about how he passed up a way nice job, a lot of money, etc... in Iran to stay in Norway and continue to practice his religion. He is so awesome!
Jordan's Tidbits:
- Sister Allen and I look like drenched rats basically every day because it rains so much haha

-We got permission from Sister Hill to paint my nails a maroon color!! Literally best day ever!!! I have wanted to paint my nails a darker color for so long!!

-I got a missionary tag from a friend of mine – so neat!

- We are not allowed to do official proselyting this week from Des 23-26 and Des 31- Jan 1st. So that will be way weird to not be able to do *real missionary work.* If we can President wants us to be with members.... but like our whole ward is out of town...... So we planned some fun missionary things to do with the other missionaries and Sister Allen and I are probably going bake cookies and deliver them, and for sure visit the nursing homes

- Norway has the cutest little bakeries and cafes all over!! I just want to go inside all of them and drink hot chocolate and watch the snow fall

- The snow is gone.... but Sister Allen and I are hopeful for a white Christmas!

-My teddy bear blankies are currently having surgery… Thank goodness for Sister Rappleye!! She is attempting to sew them for me!
Scripture of the week:
John 15:16
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Åndelig Tanker:
This week is CHRISTmas!!! I would like to invite all of you to remember the true meaning of Christmas and to keep Christ in your hearts. Something that stood out to me this week is not only should we remember Christ's birth at Christmas time, but also His atonement for us! I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be a representative of Jesus Christ and share His gospel with the people of Norway. It has forever changed my life and brought me so much happiness.

Alma 7:11-13 is one of my favorite scriptures about Christ and His suffering for us.

***... our weaknesses can help us to be humble and turn us to Christ, who will make weak things become strong. Satan, on the other hand, uses our weaknesses to the point that we are discouraged from even trying:*

***... we don't need to be *more* of anything to start to become the person God intended us to become. God will take you as you are at this very moment and begin to work with you. All you need is a willing heart, a desire to believe, and trust in the Lord.*

*** You have the primary responsibility for your OWN conversion. No one can be converted for you, and no one can force you to be converted*

CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME CHRISTMAS SHORT VIDEO!!!!!

Tis the Season

Tis the season everyone!!! Can you believe Christmas is next week!! NEXT WEEK!! I GET TO SKYPE MY FAMILY NEXT WEEK!!! AHHHH!!! I can hardly wait!!

Mandag:
We watched The Grinch in Norwegian and it is way funny I have to say!
Sister Allen and I got sushi with Majken, cute baby Olivia, Jolina, and Betty! We had a girls day out!
We went caroling with the missionaries and the YSA for Family Home Evening. The streets were pretty empty, but it was so cool to be caroling down the cute streets of Trondheim and the people that were out stopped and watched us and probably thought we were crazy because that is not a normal thing to do here.
Tirsdag:
It was Bestafar's birthday so we went to visit him and sang to him! We then visited Bestamor and helped her decorate for Christmas

We taught Mido the law of chastity and it went pretty well. He was pretty surprised that people still followed the law of chastity, but we cleared it up for him and he said he would start living it! He was pretty confused on if he has already broken it and what is the purpose of keeping it, but we were able to teach him about the importance of repentance.

We had a goodbye party for Elder Corrigan and Elder Rasband. Elder Corrigan is going home! And Rasband is getting transferred to Bodø
Onsdag:
We went to the nursing home and it was koselig like always. We talked and helped out and the Elders sang

We went to Elin and Kenneth's. It feels like we haven't been there in forever, but it has only been one week. It was way awesome because after we were done eating (she is an amazing cook), we shared our spiritual thought, the Savior is Born video and John 3:16-17, and then had the best talk ever!! We really felt like we got on another level with them. They are so awesome! I just love them. Elin was talking about Christmas and stuff and how if they were going to be in town they would have us over for Christmas. She told us that she missed having us over last week and that she kept telling Kenneth *I miss my girls!!* They love us coming over and it is so cool that they recognize that something feels different when we are over. She told us that she would hope that if her kids were far away from home she would want people to take care of her kids, so she wants to do that for us and how we are like family to her. Sister Allen and I started tearing up.

Sister Allen and I made charts and tables to help be more organized with all the missionaries and activities so that will help out alot!

It was Elder Dalton's birthday today so we threw him a surprise waffle party!! It was way fun and it is so great to be back with my pal again!! So Sister Allen and I jumped out to surprise him and it was Elder Phipps and Carver, not Dalton.... so that was awkward... but he loved it nonetheless!
Torsdag:
We visited Jecon and showed him the Christmas video and talked about Christ and it went good. Jecon is slowly coming along!

We had the relief society Christmas activity and it was so cute. We had a dinner and then talents throughout and a Christmas exchange. These ladies are so cute and so strong in the gospel!

Fredag:
Visited Evalina and Lars. I got to have my weekly car nap to their house in hell. It is the best, I always look forward to that. We got to talk about the Christmas message as well.

Lørdag:
We had sport after forever!! We played volleyball and it was so good to play that again!! Our gym is way tiny though, but it was a lot of fun with the missionaries!

Visited Målfrid and she fed us risgrøt.... It is like this hot rice stuff with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. It is pretty good, but pretty filling. She gave us so much and by the end I thought Sister Allen was going to throw up and I was force feeding myself. She invited Sister Allen and I to go to a Christmas dinner with her because her husband will be away. These older folk are my family. I love them!

We had the street stand and dang people were rejecting me right and left!! However I talked to these two really nice people and the girl I talked to gave me a hug! One older Norwegian man walked up to the stand and asked some questions and said he will try to come to church. Then the lady I talked to was from Brazil and she was so cute!

Sister Allen and I cleaned the church again

MIRACLE STORY!!!!!!! So one of very few investigators that we have, Rafid, we were finally able to meet with him. He believes in science, is agnostic, and believes strongly in having evidence to prove things. Sister Allen and I decided to talk about and focus on Faith. We started out by sharing the Christmas video and then he asked us questions about missionary life and then we talked about faith and read from Alma 32. He told us that if Christ had said and prophesied about the hubble theory and things like that, he would believe right away. Then I paused and waited for a question from Heaven for me to ask to him and I said *Rafid, literally the evidence you want you are holding in your hands!!* (Sister Allen and I have been watching the district, so it works people!! I got inspiration from it) Then, I went on to say how the prophets in the Book of Mormon have done what he is looking for. They prophesied about Christ and all these things that have come to past and showed him examples throughout the Book of Mormon. He then paused and said you know what.... I'm going to give it a shot! Give me one month and I will read the whole Book of Mormon. Sister Allen and I about fell over. That kind of thing never happens!!! We then shared Moroni's promise about praying and reading with real intent. We are so so excited!! This is a huge answer to prayers!!!

Søndag:
We had the ward Christmas concert. It was a great turnout! So many people came and the program was very good. I love Norwegian Christmas music. Sister Allen and I even sang in it too! We sang the First Noel and changed it up a little. I was way nervous because if you know me, crowds are not my biggest strength. However we were great and I remembered all the words, and did the right harmony, and it was great!! I love the Christmas season and being able to celebrate and be around great people!

Jordan's Tidbits:
- I am now the Elders barbershop.... no stress or anything....

- Don't be a Grinch this Christmas season!!

- When walking on ice, if you lean forward as you walk, you don't slip as much

- So I have a terrible fear of nursing homes and that is pretty ironic considering how much time we spend at a nursing home, so I can say that my fear is for the most part gone!¨

- I love Norway at Christmas time!!! The things they do here I will definitely be taking back home

Scripture of the week:
Jacob 4:4
For, for this intent have we written these things, that they may know that we knew of Christ, and we had a hope of his glory many hundred years before his coming; and not only we ourselves had a hope of his glory, but also all the holy prophets which were before us.

Åndelig Tanker:
Quotes that I really love and I think are perfect and have helped me so much!

- I think happiness is what makes you pretty. Period. Happy people are beautiful. They become like a mirror and they reflect that happiness! - Drew Barrymore

- Heavenly Father is proud of every single step you take closer to Him, even if they seem small or insignificant.

- We don't have to be perfect today. We don't have to be better than someone else. All we have to do is to be the very best we can be! - Joseph B Wirthlin
God Jul dere!!!
